Is Cavren an emergency service?

Cavren is a safety support tool, not an emergency service. It does not dispatch police, fire or medical responders. In any immediate danger always contact local emergency services first — 112 across the EU. Cavren coordinates nearby volunteer helpers, alerts your family, and preserves evidence; it complements 112, never replaces it.

How does Cavren SOS work?

Accepted Answer

A single tap, phone shake, the volume buttons (Android only; on iPhone: Back Tap, the Action button or a Siri shortcut), or a paired smartwatch triggers an SOS. Audio and video recording starts on-device immediately. Your family and your emergency contacts are alerted with your live location, and nearby Cavren helpers are alerted and can come to you. A direct 112 call button stays visible throughout.

What do Cavren helpers see when they receive an SOS?

Accepted Answer

Audio is heard immediately — the helper hears the victim's surroundings from the moment the alert appears. Video is shown with a blur overlay until the helper actively accepts the alert. After accepting, the blur is removed, the full livestream is visible, the route to the victim appears on the map, and a 112 call button is one tap away.

How does crash and fall detection work?

Cavren uses your phone's motion sensors to detect car crashes, falls, and man-down situations. After detection a 15-second countdown runs; if the user does not cancel, SOS activates automatically. Man-down triggers after a period of no movement that you can set. Detection is best-effort, not a medical device, and cannot diagnose injuries.

What if an attacker forces me to cancel an SOS?

If someone forces you to cancel an SOS, Cavren has a discreet way to make it look like a normal cancel to them while help is silently kept on the way. For safety reasons the exact method isn't described publicly — you learn it in the app.

Question 6

How is evidence recorded and where is it stored?

Audio and video are recorded on your phone, continuing in the background even with the screen off (on iPhone only the audio continues in the background, because iOS does not allow filming there). Evidence is encrypted, stored in EU data centres, and recordings are automatically deleted 90 days after the incident (unless you opt to keep them longer or a legal hold applies).

Is my data stored in the EU?

Primary storage is in EU data centres. Some service providers may operate globally under GDPR-compliant safeguards (Article 46 Standard Contractual Clauses). The full processor list is documented in our Privacy Policy.

Does Cavren work offline?

Accepted Answer

Cavren includes offline fallbacks: evidence is recorded on your phone and uploaded when a connection returns, your last known location is shared with contacts, and chat messages are kept securely on your device. If the phone is offline a full-screen 112 prompt is shown immediately. Helper coordination requires a connection.

Does Cavren help organisations comply with EU lone worker safety law?

Accepted Answer

EU Framework Directive 89/391/EEC requires employers to assess and mitigate risks for workers. Cavren supports compliance with incident logging, escalation workflows, fall and crash detection, and audit trails. It is a tool to support documentation and response, not a guarantee of safety outcomes.

Can someone use Cavren to stalk or secretly track me?

Accepted Answer

No. All location sharing is opt-in and bidirectional — both parties must consent. There is no stealth tracking mode. Anti-stalkerware is a core design principle: every member of a Group controls START and STOP of their own sharing. Parents may enable safety controls for minors where legally permitted, with explicit consent flows.

What happens to chat messages on Cavren?

Chat messages are end-to-end encrypted with a private key on each device. Messages are kept securely on each participant's phone and removed from our servers immediately after delivery. There is no chat history on Cavren servers; if you uninstall and reinstall you start with an empty chat history.

How much does Cavren cost?

Accepted Answer

Core SOS features, family location sharing, and community reporting are free (Silver tier). Premium tiers (Gold and Platinum, monthly or yearly) add faster tracking, more family devices, and more evidence storage. Pricing is shown in the app and on the Premium page; cancel anytime via your app store subscription.

What if no helpers are nearby?

Accepted Answer

Cavren never stops searching until the incident is resolved. The search widens until help is found and doesn't give up. Every SOS is also monitored remotely, so you're not on your own even when few helpers are nearby.

Question 14

Will Cavren automatically dial 112 for me?

Accepted Answer

No. Cavren never dials 112 automatically because false calls carry legal penalties up to €30,000 in some EU jurisdictions (Article 142 Dutch Criminal Code and equivalents). An animated 112 button is permanently visible during any SOS, so dialling 112 takes a single tap when you decide it is the right action.
